Originally licensed in 1974 in Canada and operated as VE3HEC.  At that time, my home QTH was Bracebridge Ont I was just 15 years old and operated from my parents ham shack – my Mom was VE3EKQ and my Dad was VE3AYN.

Our family moved to Kitchener area in 1991 where I currently live and my station relocated one more time. I became a member of the Kitchener-Waterloo Amateur Radio Club (KWARC) and began to connect with other local Hams in the Kitchener-Waterloo area.

I became active on HF (an old Drake T4 R4 twins and an inverted V) and I joined OMISS that fall and became OM #3020.

In 1994, I became VE3HZ and continued being active locally and on HF.

In the fall of 2021, I was elected as the President of KWARC. I am also a member of RAC (Radio Amateurs of Canada) and continue to be active on OMISS. I am a member of SKCC #26861T and I am trying to hone my CW skills as best as I can.

I also enjoy the contesting aspect of Amateur Radio.  You can find me active on any of the State QSO Parties, the RAC Contests, CQ and ARRL and of course the IARU HF Championships.

Besides amateur radio. my passions include:  my family, Scouting (have been an active volunteer for over 40 years), motorcycles (current ride is a 2009 Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager), music and faith (member of Mannheim Mennonite Church).

I look forward to the rest of my retirement and being able to enjoy meeting other amateurs on the air.
